- What It Is: Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline 1-800-4-A-CHILD is a hotline for children and adults to report or discuss issues related to child abuse or neglect.
- Why It’s Helpful: Crisis counselors are trained to provide emotional support and resources; kids can call directly to ask questions or share concerns.
The Headspace Youtube Channel is a personal meditation and mindfulness guide that helps people of all groups and ages to find joy in each day and work through tough times.
The GoZenOnline Youtube Channel is dedicated to the relief of childhood anxiety. Now don’t let the word “childhood,” throw you off, they provide a unique online course that uses engaging animations to teach kids how to understand, manage and control their anxiety.
Hope Means Nevada is another site dedicated to helping people. They can help you discover a range of support and resources that connect you to people and groups who care.
Nevada 211 is a program of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. Their particular focus is on helping Nevadans connect with services they need.
Parent’s Guide to Youth Mental Health in Nevada is a document that provides information for families whose youth are experiencing behavioral and/or mental health concerns. It is a big trove of information rather than a series of resources and people.
NAMI Western Nevada is an organization of families, friends, and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. They have gathered many resources to connect you with services and support.
Rural Clinics is a state agency within the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health. Basically, they provide lots of different behavioral health services for adults and children to assist them on a personal level as they work to achieve self-sufficiency and/or recovery.
Nevada Children’s Mobile Crisis Response Team
- What It Is: A 24-hour hotline and mobile response team for children and youth in Nevada experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Why It’s Helpful: Families and kids can call to talk with mental health professionals who can provide immediate crisis support, safety planning, and referrals for ongoing care.

- What It Is: The Children’s Cabinet is a Nevada-based organization offering various programs and services to support children, teens, and families, including mental health resources, crisis intervention, and counseling referrals.
- Why It’s Helpful: They have a range of resources specifically tailored to children of different ages, including preteens.
- What It Is: KidsHealth from Nemours is a trusted site with articles, videos, and interactive content covering physical and emotional health topics for kids.
- Why It’s Helpful: Uses age-appropriate language; includes sections on feelings, coping skills, and mental health.
- What It Is: The Child Mind Institute is a national nonprofit dedicated to children’s mental health. While much of their site targets parents, they also provide worksheets, tips, and guides that can be adapted for children.
- Why It’s Helpful: Resources on anxiety, behavior, ADHD, and more often with simple explanations and coping strategies that can be rephrased for children.
- What It Is: PBS Kids has interactive games, videos, and articles aimed at kids to help them identify and navigate emotions.
- Why It’s Helpful: Uses characters and storytelling to illustrate coping skills and emotional regulation techniques in a fun, relatable way.
- What It Is: On Our Sleeves (Nationwide Children’s Hospital) Offers tools, conversation starters, and activities specifically created to help children talk about and understand their mental health.
- Why It’s Helpful: Focuses on taking the stigma away from talking about mental health, with kid-friendly language and visuals.
- What It Is: GoNoodle is known primarily for active movement and mindfulness videos often used in classrooms.
- Why It’s Helpful: Includes short mindfulness, breathing, and relaxation videos that help children self-regulate emotions in a fun way.
Resources for Homeless Teens
Everyone deserves a home in which you feel safe, happy, and hopeful. For teens who don’t have that, there are people who are ready to provide help. They offer resources that can give you comfort, guidance, and a place to go when you need it. You’re not alone, and there are caring people who want to help you reach your goals and build a strong future.

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) provides resources for military families through programs like Operation Purple, camps, scholarships, and support networks. For homeless or displaced military teens (Meaning the dependent children of Active Service and Veterans), these programs can offer stability, community connections, and access to crucial resources.
Nevada 211 has a comprehensive list of programs that provide temporary youth shelters for children and youth who have run away from or have been pushed out of their homes or who are at risk for abuse.
HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center (SWHYC) provides services for at-risk youth, age 16-24, that are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Their approach is person centered, so you can get help making a plan for your future from people who will listen.
Eddy House is located in Downtown Reno and creates a safe environment for homeless and at-risk youth to develop the life and job skills they need to become independent, following their founders mission to help those most vulnerable.
