Military Exceptional Family Member Program
The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) gives support to Military families with members with disabilities. Although each Service has its own EFMP, they all serve the same basic function: coordinating the assignment process to make sure special needs families are not sent to locations that don’t have the right hospitals or schools for you.

EFMP Coordinators (EFMP-FS) and Navigator: Works to enhance the quality of life of family members with special medical or educational needs. Contact our office for case law concerning children with special needs in school as well as educational material for your teachers (Special Ed Connection and Direct Step).

EFMP & Me: Office of Special Needs offers support, information and tools to assist EFMP families.
Department of the Air Force Family Vector: provides up to date information on many different EFMP support programs and services.
School Liaison Program Manager: Serves as subject matter experts to families, installation leadership staff, and commanders who assist with all local Pre-K through grade 12 school issues and special education challenges facing military children.

Nevada Disability Advocacy & Law Center
NDALC helps people with disabilities in Nevada by fighting discrimination and making sure their rights are protected. They offer free help with issues like education, employment, and healthcare. NDALC also teaches people how to stand up for themselves and works to make sure services and facilities for people with disabilities are safe and fair. They monitor, investigate, and use legal advocacy to make positive changes.
Centers for Independent Living
CILs advocate for the development of a network of programs, services and options designed to empower Nevadans with disabilities to live independently in the community. What that means is that they try to make sure you have a voice and access to the tools you need to be heard and live your best life.

The Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living (NNCIL) helps people with disabilities live more easily on their own. They offer services like peer support, independent living skills training, and advocacy all across Northern Nevada to help people reach their personal goals. NNCIL was created by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities, and provides most services at little or no cost, because everyone deserves a fair chance.
The Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living
(SNCIL) is committed to “Removing Barriers Preventing Independent Living.” They provide free services in Clark County, Nevada, to help people with disabilities adapt to living with their disability and create the best path to the life they want. They work with individuals on independent goals, empowering them to make their own choice and manage their lives.
NV PEP
NV PEP (Parents Encouraging Parents) helps families of youth with disabilities succeed at home, school, and in the community. By working through collaboration with professionals, families and professionals can share high expectations for youth with disabilities and support their pre-employment goals.

Pre-Employment planning helps to prepare young students for their future. Services are based on students’ strengths and their needs. Student’s preferences and interests are also important for successful pre-employment planning. Nevada PEP offers training, and guidance on pre-employment planning for students and their families.
The NV PEP Calendar offers various events focused on supporting families of children with disabilities. These include youth meetings, family support groups, and webinars on topics like IEP development, bullying prevention, advocacy, and helping children succeed in school. Events are available in both English and Spanish, with on-demand trainings for flexible learning.
You can ask an adult you trust to contact Nevada PEP for help. After filling out the form, a staff member will reach out to offer support and resources. You can also call them directly. The form asks for basic info like the adult’s name, phone number, and your information as well.
Assistive Technology
Assistive technology helps people with disabilities reach their goals by providing tools that make everyday tasks easier. Ask an adult you trust if you’re not sure if you use anything like this.

They offer device demos, short-term device loans, and training on how to use the tools. NATRC also helps with support for using assistive technology at school, work, or home, to make sure people get the right help to meet their needs.
The Assistive Technology (AT) Council helps make sure assistive technology programs meet the needs of people with disabilities. They work to promote independence and help people use technology to live and work better. The Council also supports the growth of assistive technology programs and gives advice to state agencies and other groups. They help everyone work together to improve services.
