Support Documents
Having an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or a 504 plan is super important for making sure you get the right help at school. This special paperwork outlines the exact services and support you need to do your best work and be comfortable in class, like extra time on tests or special learning tools.
If you don’t already have co-pilots on the TRIP, now is a good time to talk to your parents or other support people to find out what supports you might already have in place.

Evaluation
The evaluation process is like a check-up for school. Teachers and specialists look at how you learn. They might ask you questions, have you do some activities, or watch you in class. This helps them understand your strengths and challenges and figure out if you need special help to get the most out of your education.
You’ll need to contact your school to be evaluated.
IEP
IEP, or “Individualized Education Program,” is a detailed plan for how schools can provide the right tools and environment for their students, unique to their needs. This includes specially designed instruction as well as other supports and services.
You’ll need to contact your school to develop an IEP.
504 Plan
A 504 Plan carefully and clearly explains how the school will remove barriers preventing a student from staying in general education courses, regardless of their disabilities.
As it’s primarily their responsibility to put it into action, you’ll need to contact your school to develop a 504 plan.
